Capturing the soul of the party

The way I work

Party photography is relatively easy to capture, but as a party photographer, I want to be as unobtrusive as possible to photograph candid, natural, unposed images of happy people. I need to be constantly aware of what is going on around me. I make good use of the ambient light and get great images. There are bound to be many people wanting to pose for pictures with their friends, which is part of the fun.

I am essentially telling a story of the party and the people present. I will capture the essential people and little events happening at the party and the detail shots. But I also always need to be ready for the key and wow moments and grab them all. Most importantly, the unusual, emotional, intimate shots and the “not so obvious” ones should be held. Those will differentiate me, your seasoned party photographer, from the average photographer.

Unobtrusively and with huge professionalism, Jean-Luc transformed our daughter’s 21st birthday dinner into a memorable evening with a perfect combination of informal and posed shots. In difficult lighting on a grey January evening, he captured the dazzle of the evening. He blended into the background and everybody was blissfully unaware of his presence. We are absolutely delighted with the range and clarity of the photographs.
